"Bloom where you are planted"

Glo Minerals has been so generous to me over the years and I have written honestly about my appreciation for both their makeup and skin products. This collection for Spring '17 is right up there with my favorites. It's called Full Bloom and is one of three limited edition color collections, with a nod towards metallic blends and peach tones. Because I have light skin but dark features, the collection really enhances my lips, cheeks, and eye color.

The kit includes:
Cream blush in Fig
Full Bloom eye shadow quad  - harvest, suede, mahogany, and dusk
Cream shadow stick in Keepsake (which I already own)
Gloss in Pueblo

Price: $58

Each kit comes with a card that explains how to apply each of the products, so for the purpose of this post, I decided to follow the directions on the back. I used the entire cream shadow stick all over my lid, and even dabbed a bit on my brow bones and blended it out. I then applied all four of the shadows on my lids, using the dark dusk color as a liner. As usual, the shadows are all finely milled, pigmented but easy to blend, and very soft. They also have a satin finish, which I prefer. Matte can look too drying, while shimmer can look too tween so satin is the perfect in-between.

However my favorite products from the collection are the cream blush in Fig, and the gloss in Pueblo. The blush gave me pause because it looks so dark in the pan, but it really comes across as the perfect peachy glow. And the gloss! The gloss is non-sticky, moisturizing, and the perfect peach. It's my first go at trying either of these products from the line but it won't be my last.

When I think of Spring makeup, words like "fresh", "youthful", and "glow" come to mind. I like my makeup and clothing to match all of the beautiful greenery and colorful flowers around me. I think it's safe to say that this kit encompasses these quite nicely, and you'll be seeing this look on my face a lot! As usual, Glo was kind enough to send me these products but all opinions are my own.

How do you like to switch up your makeup for Spring?

I was sent these products by Glo Minerals a couple of months ago, but as with any beauty post, I like to really take my time on reviewing them so I can fully test how they will wear. It seems disingenuous when I read beauty blogs and I can tell they have only used the product once. Major eye roll!

Anyway, cream eye shadow products have never been a staple for me. I have fairly oily eyelids so cream products don't exactly make much sense. However, Glo is such a great brand with a heavy leaning towards skincare so I kept an open mind and wore these in several ways.

First, I tried them all over the lid on top of my favorite primer. The formula felt sticky for a few seconds and I worried about creasing. However, after going to dinner and a movie one night, my eyes still looked nice six hours later. Admittedly I was surprised because I was certain the color would wear off. There was a bit of creasing, but nothing a little light blending couldn't fix.

Next, I tried layering a similar powdered shadow on top. This is probably my favorite way to use these, as the powder provides an extra barrier and there was zero creasing. Plus, the cream stick underneath made the look more intense in color. The lasting power would be perfect for a long day at work or evening out.

Lastly, I have used these as liners smudged into my lashline. The black is perfect for a smokey eye, but I also love the browns and plums for a sultry yet still natural wash of color. They are super easy to blend.

From left to right:
Beam, Gold Blush, Keepsake, Metro, Concord, Pitch

Beam is hands-down my favorite because it can be used to highlight anywhere! I use it in the inner corners of my eyes, underneath my eyes, and on my brow bones. It's such a beautiful champagne shade that I don't plan on buying any similar products anytime soon.

Gold Blush and Keepsake are the shadows I have been wearing the most on my eyes out of the six. The brown/bronze is the most flattering and easiest to wear on a daily basis. I just sweep them on and go, especially when I'm extra lazy about wearing makeup. They blend together perfectly and should really be made as a set.

As you can see, some have shimmer and some don't. The shimmer is more of a subtle gleam. You can barely see Beam on my hand, which is why I love using it to highlight. It translates to a bright, wide-eyed look on my fair skin. The rest swatch very true to how they appear on the eyes. The pigmentation is rich and goes on smoothly. It dries down to a powder, but still looks more glossy than regular eye shadow.

Out of the six, I recommend Beam (as a highlight), Gold Blush, Keepsake, and Pitch (as a liner). Metro and Concord are gorgeous, but I don't gravitate towards smokey eyes so I haven't had much use for them.

If you have any questions, let me know! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend 😊

I've been working with Glo Professional and their skincare line, Glo Therapeutics for about two years. I was initially contacted by the company, and quickly fell in love with their mists, serum, and moisturizers. Although these products were kindly sent to me a few months ago, I can honestly attest to the quality of their brand and I would (and soon will) pay for my own products in a heartbeat. That's how much I love it! Let me also stress that I have used these products for a substantial period of time, so I've really been able to see the difference in my skin. It looks more radiant overall, and even though I've had a spell recently with eczema, my face has remained untouched and looks just as I want it to - glowing, moisturized, and more even.

I start by cleansing, and then apply the Cyto-luxe toning mist all over my face. I do this morning and night to boost my skin's brightness and provide a layer of fine moisture. It smells clean and natural, and I find that it's the most refreshing step in my skincare routine. It does feel slightly tingly, but the sensation fades within seconds of application. It's the perfect canvas for my next step.

I then apply the Cyto-luxe light moisture cream. It goes on smoothly and smells of citrus, just as the toning mist does! It isn't greasy, so it absorbs into the skin rather quickly. I have dry skin, but it still provides just the right amount of moisture. My skin feels immediately more supple and plump. I also think this product would be even better for people with oily or combination skin since it's so light.

The Cyto-luxe line is relatively new to Glo Therapeutics, but I love these products in conjunction with my other favorites from their regular line.

I use the renew serum every night. It has anti-aging properties including retinol, and I feel like it really has improved the tone and texture of my skin. The pure hydration almost feels like water! It is a gel-like consistency, and it goes on like a dream providing my skin with a good base for makeup. I'm almost out of both so I need to order more. Overall, I love that these products are plant based, but still contain beneficial ingredients like retinol and glycolic acid. There is something for everyone whether it be acne, anti-aging which is mostly my concern, sensitive skin, and dryness. I do sometimes like to go outside the brand to try other things, but these products are the basis of my routine and that won't change. As long as this brand exists, I will continue to use it.

If you have any questions, let me know in the comments!

Glo Minerals sent these products to me for consideration. I am in no way being compensated by the company, and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

I've been a fan of Glo Minerals since they sent me the products featured in this post. I especially love the Moisture Tint, and wear it almost every day during the work week. I also love it during my trips to the beach for some added sun protection on top of my regular sunscreen. When I was contacted by them again to see if I wanted to test out a few more of their makeup and skincare line, I happily agreed.

Blush in Bellini (soft rose)
Cream Glaze Crayon in Mimosa (soft peach coral)
Matte Suede Lip Crayon in Sorbet (bright fuchsia)
Cream Glaze Lip Crayon in Bloom (beautiful pink)

I have been wearing the blush in Bellini every single day for three weeks. It gives the prettiest color to my cheeks, and it really lifts the face and provides a healthy glow. It's neutral enough that I can wear it with any eye or lip color. It has a slight subtle sheen, but it's mostly matte once applied.

The lip crayons are exactly what I've been searching for. These are what I wish other brands would be formulated as, but unfortunately are not. I've wasted so much money on waxy pencils that just don't last. These actually stain the lips, so depending on how dramatic I want my lip color to be, I either draw them on for an intense dose of color, or I dab them on using my fingers to diffuse the color so it looks more natural. Either way, if there is one shade I'd recommend, it is Bloom. It's extremely wearable, but still a fun "pop". They also aren't as drying as other jumbo lip crayons I've owned (and consequently thrown away).

Mimosa, Sorbet, Bloom

I was actually the most thrilled to try two of their skincare products from their Therapeutics line. You ladies know that I'm all about skin, and am a huge believer that it's crucial to take care of it now before it's too late. My skin isn't perfect by any means, but I have noticed a difference since using these two products, especially the serum at night. Even Nate has been using it!
The pure hydration is a light-weight moisturizer designed for daytime. It feels like a gel, and it sinks right into the skin without any leftover greasy feeling. I may need something heavier once the weather changes, but this is perfect for California's warm climate.

The renew serum is my absolute favorite now, and I got it just time as another oil I was using was running out. This goes on thick, and it almost has a slight sticky film that you can feel for a couple of minutes after smoothing it on. I like to concentrate on my cheeks and between my eyebrows since I have fine lines forming there. The smell is a bit off putting at first (it kind of smells like a cross between candy and medicine which is odd) but once I got past the initial scent, I actually have grown to like it. I will definitely repurchase after it's gone. It leaves my skin feeling supple and plumped.

Have you heard of or tried anything from this company? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

2.16.2015

It's been quite some time since I've delved into a beauty brand that I've never tried before. I used to run the gamut with products, but after graduating college, I stopped experimenting as much with buying copious amounts of makeup. Good for my wallet, but bad for the beauty portion of my blog! As I've stated before, I miss trying, testing, and playing. It's fun! So when Glo Minerals reached out to me about a review opportunity of two of their products, I jumped at the chance. I've heard of the brand before, and wanted to see for myself what the company is all about. Please note that although these products were sent to me for review, all thoughts and opinions are my own and I am not getting compensated in doing so. I wore both the shadows and the moisturizing tint for two weeks so that I could get a good idea of how they responded to my sensitive skin, and to see how they would wear throughout the day (and night).

Here is a brief overview of Glo Minerals: It is great for sensitive skin, because it is talc free and non-comedogenic. Their mineral makeup is designed to cover, correct, and protect. Their products are triple milled to ensure coverage that lasts. It is also infused with vitamins including green tea that act as anti-inflammatories. As I read this, I thought great! Sounds good to me.

Here are the products they sent to me, plus a gorgeous wine colored lipstick as a sweet gift. All photos were taken outside on my balcony, with natural light and no flash. What you see is what you get!

The tint comes in four colors - fair, light, medium, and dark. I have never been a fan of tinted moisturizers because I have areas of discoloration on my cheeks, nose, and chin. I typically like a medium coverage foundation to keep the discoloration at bay. However, this tinted moisturizer is amazing! You can wear it alone or underneath your regular foundation, so I tried it both ways. The best way it works for me is to layer it with my regular HD foundation. You really get a dual effect. You get sun protection which is so important, especially when you live in a warm climate like I do, and you also get the advantage of being able to use the foundation of your liking. I found that I didn't need to use my regular moisturizer. This provided a smooth, even canvas for great application. There is no real scent of sunscreen either, and the tint suited my light skin perfectly. I have a feeling this is going to be my Spring and Summer staple! It's the stand-out product out of the two that were sent to me, and I absolutely recommend it.

This little quad contains four beautiful, universal shades that go from day to night. I love the top right and bottom left shades the most, as they make for beautiful all-over lid colors. The back of this little kit has a guide I.E. base, lid, crease, and liner but I didn't use them that way. They do have shimmer to them, but once applied on the eyes, the shimmer isn't as noticeable. The pigmentation is great, and I would easily compare these to other brands found at department stores. I did use my own base as a primer to ensure lasting effects, but I do this with all of my eye makeup. These lasted during an eight hour workday with no creasing.

Here I am wearing the smoky eye kit and the moisturizing tint, all in natural daylight with no filter/photoshop.

I did want to quickly mention the lipstick in aubergine because it is a gorgeous wine color and the formula is super creamy and rich. If you're on the hunt for a great Fall/Winter shade then look no further. I forgot to photograph with it on, but I will in the future!

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and wear of these products. I had no expectations, and can genuinely say wholeheartedly that I am impressed and would buy any of these products on my own, with my money. I don't do reviews often, and I hope you'll trust me when I say that this is a great brand. Glo Minerals gave me a 15% off coupon code of your entire purchase using BEAUTYGIRL24. Give them a try (especially the moisturizing tint) and let me know what you think. A big thank you to Amy for reaching out to me.
