Happy new year! So it's 2016 huh? That just sounds crazy to me. It'll probably take at least a month to get my dates right. My co-workers will undoubtedly get a little fed up with seeing 2015 on my documentation but that's one area I struggle with every January! Anyway, I hope you all had a great holiday season! Like most of you, I'm sad the playtime is over. My vacation was interesting. We are in the process of trying to sell our condo so we can upgrade to a house, so realtors and possible buyers were in and out most days. This is my first foray into the real estate world and I must admit that it's pretty awkward due to the fact that we are still living here. I feel like people are judging my decorating. And my cleaning. And, what's that pitbull doing in the corner of the living room? Luckily Nettie is a social butterfly and has been enjoying the flow of strangers.

That's what's going on lately. I've also been reading about new year's resolutions, naturally. Although I don't mind seeing what others have in mind for their "new year, new you" thing, I am sticking to my no-resolution pact. As in, my resolution is to have no resolution because I am terrible at keeping them. I'm also really terrible with change. I need a giant push to make any life altering decisions, so usually Nate has to coach me, kicking and screaming the whole way, until I realize that the change was actually necessary.

As for blogging, I'll still be here. I've been doing this since 2009. I'm not going anywhere. My only goal is to keep it as organic and as real as possible, because all of the cookie cutter blogs that are so popular personally bore the hell out of me. But that's for another day to discuss if I ever get the courage :)

Do you ladies make resolutions? What are you looking forward to this year?

Wearing //
Loft dobby trench coat (old) but super similar
Loft jeans, love these
J.Crew pumps, similar

The best part about this outfit is that it was worn and therefore photographed on Friday. Nate and I went to our favorite spot, and then had breakfast together before heading to work. That never happens! We never have weekday mornings to spend casually walking around the lake, and we are always rushing. I think we are heading in the right direction this year with being more present, slowing down to enjoy the little things, and not taking life in general so seriously. I didn't mention to you my personal goals for 2015 because hey, they're personal. And I guess somewhat boring to read too. But those are a few :)

How about this outfit though? I can't get over how ridiculously in love I still am with the coat. I wish it were still available at Loft, because it really is a stand - piece. I love that it's all I really need to look put together (even if underneath the coat, I'm not).

How was your weekend?

Wearing //
Plaid coat (old) but similar

This coat was first seen on the blog way back in 2010, which is honestly the last time I pulled it out of my closet. I wore the heck out of it until some of the buttons fell off. Then I went to my tailor a few weeks ago when I got my trench coat hemmed, and now it's like wearing a brand new coat! I love the ruffles offset by the dark grey plaid. It's so incredibly soft and cozy, it's darn near like wearing a blanket. I came home to some chilly California weather after my Oahu trip. I was saddened at first because I missed the warm beach, but now I'm fully embracing it. When else do I get to pull out a plush coat? It's December after all, so I'm going to get in as much outerwear time as I possibly can. Happy Monday friends!

I found my Winter coat:
Jolt Ruffle Front Coat (Juniors)
I know I need to start making my way out of buying in the Junior's section, but this coat is exactly what I've been wanting - practical and warm, but still feminine and cute.
I want to wear my hair like the model's!

Here it is on me:
The sleeves are a bit long of course, but that's the only drawback. Love it! Love the plaid, especially since I don't own any in my closet. The length is nice too. I wish I could have gotten a picture of it from behind, because there is a cute bow near the waist.
My Winter coat for 2011.

Here is the swing coat I got from Forever 21.

See? I think it works, right?! I would wear it with closed toe pumps but I was just trying this on for blog purposes. My hair back in a cute bun and I think it's darling for an evening out on the town.
