I had an entirely different outfit in mind for my friend's 30th birthday party on Saturday. I really wanted to wear this Asos dress, seeing as it's elegant enough for a party yet still extremely comfortable to dance in. I wanted a timeless look because lord only knows that when we are 65 and looking through old photos of the "glory days", I don't want to think "what the heck was I wearing?"
I often dress with that scenario in mind, and I'm not sure if this is normal. Anyway, it was over 100 degrees that day and it wasn't going to cool down much at night so I decided to nix the black, elegant dress in favor of something a little more appropriate for the heat. I know you guys are probably tired of seeing this white Topshop skirt but I reach for it all the time. I love the way it swishes as I walk, and it has pockets that I can stick my hands in when I'm feeling a little nervous (which I proceeded to do all night). I threw in a little happy colored clutch for good measure and away I went! Her backyard party was perfect. The same DJ that played during my wedding reception was there. I felt very nostalgic about that, as well as realizing that my friends and I are bidding adieu to our twenties. So far, it's been my favorite night of the year :)

    1. Thank you, it definitely allowed me to move! I can't really dance, but it's fun to try anyway while my friends laugh!

  2. Aw, so glad you had a great evening and that's cool that your wedding DJ was there. I actually really love that you focus on NOT looking ridiculous when you look back at photos 20/40/60 etc. years from now. I think it's a great perspective and it shows in your classic style. I DO actually think about that. Not all the time. :) I indulge in some trends here and there but even looking at my own photos I have been drawn to a lot of the same styles for YEARS with just slight variations in the cut of jeans or whatever.

    1. Thanks Gina! I'm sure I'll still have some what was I thinking moments but I try! It was definitely great seeing the dj. He's an older man from Orange County but he's so fun and keeps the party going!

  3. Not tired of that cute little white skirt at all! ;) Glad you went for something lighter knowing you were going to be dancing. I wore a Kate Spade dress to a wedding on Saturday night and it was a little warm for the dancing that ensued that night. ;)

  5. That skirt will never get old! Love this look on you. It is timeless.

I'm not sure about the age of the photos for the magazine. I think based on when I submitted the photo and when it was published that they must pick outfits form previous seasons for the upcoming one due to how far in advance they work to get it published. I wouldn't think it would matter if you submitted an older one. You should totally do it! I didn't think I had any shot either!
