Wearing //
Zara skirt (old) but pretty options here and here

When I think about sequins, sparkle, and gold, I tend like many of you to associate them with getting all dolled up. But why can't a gold sequined skirt just be worn casually? Like to run to the grocery store or pump gas or visit the doctor? Okay, I'm totally kidding. I would never wear this outfit to the doctor's office. A grocery run or a gas station...maybe. I guess what I'm trying to get at is that I think we should break "the rules" sometimes and just wear whatever the hell we wanna wear, wherever we want to wear it. Me, well I wore this out to dinner. Hubby and I even took a walk on the wild side and ventured into the mall, despite protests that there would be too many high school kids roaming about on a Friday night. We walked anyways, and although I probably resembled a disco ball to some, I felt just as comfortable in this casual-ish outfit than I would have felt in jeans and flip-flops. I just felt a bit more glamorous.

  2. I love this! I have a sequined skirt in my closet that I've been wondering how to dress down and this look is perfect because it's very nice without going overboard. Thanks for the inspiration :-)

  3. I love that you wore this to the mall. You are my hero! And I do feel sad/annoyed/frustrated that we can't just wear the stuff we want where we want without all the funny look, comments, etc. I think you did a great job of dressing down the sequin skirt to just the right level for a dinner date.

    1. Haha, we avoid the mall on weekends because we feel too old to keep up with the young teen crowd! On a better note though, I pointed out to hubby some things at sephora I want for my 30th :)

  6. I love the idea of daytime sequins! And heck, I wore a jeweled sweater to the doctors office... so why not? Special occasion clothes are great... until you realize you don't have nearly enough of them to wear all your fun pieces!

  11. Thank you so much girls! This skirt has been so fun to style. I got it on sale a few years back and it's easily one of my favorite closet pieces. I just keep wanting to remix it and try new looks with it!

  13. The material of that skirt is just so darn pretty...it definitely deserves to get a lot more outings than special occasions :-) It definitely works styled casually - you did a great job and look SO lovely!
