If you're anything like me, you fight with your hair on a daily basis. And, your hair usually wins. My hair is thick and wavy. It sounds like a blessing and maybe in some ways it is. But I constantly have to blow it out and straighten it with a flat iron in order to tame frizz, flyaways, a cowlick, and a very awkward wavy texture that I wish would go completely curly or flatten out. I struggle with the inbetween.

I discovered Ready Set Blow at my local Ulta last month and I've been testing it out ever since. "Created by the hair experts at Blow, the New York blow dry bar," the express blow dry lotion claims to "accelerate blow dry time, plump hair for fuller heat-style, and tame frizz and flyaways." Um, okay! Sold!

The ready set blow lotion is not tested on animals and is free of parabens and sulfates, perfect for those of us who have colored treated or damaged hair (and those of us with a conscience too). So does it work? Yes! I haven't touched my other hair styling products. I love that it really does cut drying time. What I do is flip my head over and get my hair about 85% dry, then quickly section it off and finish blow drying the top layer with a brush. Overall, this process takes about ten minutes. Ten minutes! This doesn't account for straightening my hair with an iron, but I usually just do a quick run through with that anyways, especially during the week when I'm not entirely in the mood to deal. I also like that it acts as a heat protectant. That way, I can use this product on its own rather than having to use at least two separate products (one for protection and one to act as a leave-in conditioner or styling assistant).

Overall, I would recommend this product if you want to cut down on drying time while adding some extra shine and combat frizz. You can find this at Ulta and it retails for $22 dollars.

On that note, I am doing a project hair pan if you will! I know a lot of beauty gurus have done project 10 pan where they have to use up 10 beauty products before purchasing anymore. I am on a mission to do the same, except with all of my hair products. I am very happy with the shampoo, conditioner, and styling agents I currently have and I do not need anything else. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

  1. Thanks for the review- I'm hoping I can find this at Sephora because we don't have Ulta in Canada!

  4. I am going to try it after I finish one of my many hair products. I wish they all came in much smaller containers, so I can use them up faster:)

  5. The winter season does not like my hair. I have to blow dry my hair or use the straightener each time after I wash my hair nowadays. I don't like to use hair spray to control frizz. I might have to check out this product you recommend during my next trip to Ulta :) .

  6. Hey $22 bucks is not bad for something that works. This sounds awesome and I will look into this!

  7. Andi: Me too! I'm just happy that it works for me ;) Oh and thank you so much for recommending the Philosophy pads! I am loving them so far.

A: Lol, that is my problem too. I have so many half empty/half full bottles and tubes of hair products. They are all great, just some are better than others. And I get bored with hair products easily. Funny, since I don't ever do anything special to my hair!

Sydney: If you try it, please let me know how it works for you ;)

Becky: Yeah, not too horrible. Still kind of pricey, but I think it's worth it!

  9. I seriously have so many hair products that I will use for a week or so then get bored or unhappy with the results and switch to something else. My hair is kind of fine, but I have a lot of it. I wonder if this would still help me? I have naturally wavy hair, so it sounds like it would help with the flyaways. I love all of your reviews!

  10. Katie: I'll let you use some when I see you again ;)

Jessica: I think it would work wonderfully on you! Your hair would dry so quickly!

  11. oh my - sounds like we have the same hair type (when mine is long that is) - super thick, wavy in the wrong spots, flyaways, pain in my rear that is. i have just started to grow mine out recently as it's super short now. it'll be a long time before i can try this product - but anything to help shorten the process. that's why i went short-took too long to blow dry and flat iron it!

  12. Do you continue to use and recommend this product? thanks!

  13. Anonymous: Yes, I do! I actually am close to done with it! I think it does a great job at blowing out the hair, and I would repurchase. I do want to try other products, because I have a tendency to stray with haircare. But I'm sure I'll go back to it!
